Located since the last century in the east of the island, cradle of the two major musical styles, the Son and the Bolero, Familia Valera Miranda is the true agent of the cuban musical tradition, mixing with talent classicism and authenticity. Pupils of "Pepe" Compay Segundo, Familia Valera Miranda is considered as major Cuban act.
As indicated in its name, Familia Valera Miranda is a family business: musician oncles, a singing mother and Padre Felix valera Miranda as band leader.
The origins of the clan go up to the beginning of last century, when Vicente Cutiño, highly skilled colonel of the freedom fighters and ancestor of the Familia Valera Miranda, received for reward a hudge amount of money. With this reward, he bought a homestead in the area of Oriente.
Since then, this residence has become a famous meeting place for concerts and festivals and the Miranda clan a true national treasure.
Together, they perpetuate the tradition of the songs inherited of their ancestors and reveal a repertory of soneros and tresoros that their elder transmitted from generation to generation.
